A writer living in rural southeastern Ohio, Kelley is an essayist, poet, and experimenter. She received a PhD in English Language and Literature with a specialization in Creative Nonfiction from Ohio University in 2008; she received an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Antioch University Los Angeles in 2002. Kelley is also a Certified BodyTalk Practitioner.
Her essay “Body Composition,” published in Fourth Genre, was listed as a notable essay in The Best American Essays 2009, edited by Mary Oliver. Her work has also appeared in Harpur Palate, Brevity, and HerMark 2010.
At AWP 2010 in Denver, Kelley moderated and presented on the panel "Goodbye to All That: Coming of Age in the Personal Essay."
